Visual Comfort & Co. / Circa Lighting
As Circa Lighting expanded across showrooms, e-commerce, audiences, and markets, the brand needed more than visual consistency. It needed a shared understanding of who the brand was, who it served, how it should show up, and where it could win.
I led the development of the company’s first comprehensive brand book in partnership with executive leadership, bringing together internal business intelligence, customer insights, market research, and brand strategy into one cohesive framework.
The objective was simple: create clarity that could travel across the organization.

The Challenge
The work needed to establish a common strategic foundation across brand identity and positioning, customer and market understanding, messaging and voice, visual expression, product and portfolio context, and showroom, digital, content, and marketing execution.
Rather than create a traditional style guide centered primarily on logos, colors, and fonts, the goal was to connect brand strategy to business strategy and customer behavior.
What the Book Unified
Brand Foundations
Purpose, vision, mission, history, portfolio context, and defining brand characteristics.
Brand Standards
Voice, tone, content approach, visual identity, typography, color, photography, and execution guidelines.
Market + Customer Clarity
Strategic positioning, priority segments, trade audiences, purchasing behaviors, and data-informed retail personas.
Explore the Brand Book
Explore the framework that brought brand foundations, creative standards, market positioning, and customer intelligence into one shared reference point.
More Than a Style Guide
The framework gave teams a shared language for evaluating decisions across brand, customer experience, marketing, sales, showrooms, and external partnerships.
It connected previously separate ideas—brand strategy, customer understanding, creative standards, and commercial priorities—through one strategic lens.
The Value
The Brand Book created a shared reference point designed to help leadership, marketing, sales, creative teams, showrooms, and external partners make more consistent decisions while preserving the flexibility required of a growing luxury design brand.
The value of the work is organizational clarity, strategic alignment, and a common foundation for execution.
